Sweet box packaging design solution
Concept
Sweet Mixology is the ultimate chocolate martini party kit. The idea comes from my chocolate obsession and a desire to experiment with various materials and techniques for a self-initiated packaging product.
I love chocolate and enjoy indulging in it whenever I can. It’s the smooth taste, the rich aroma, and the melt-in-your-mouth feeling that soothes and ushers a sense of calm and relaxation.
I also enjoy non-alcoholic cocktails and set out to create a party kit for anyone desiring an adult-like drink without alcohol. Oh, yes! The chocolate martini will be perfect! Nothing says festive celebration and special occasion like chocolate. It will be an ideal non-alcoholic cocktail for my party kit and a drink the chocolate-loving crowd will love.
The design
I sketched the ideas I had in my mind of the kit, and I prepared a list of items needed to build the case. I chose Select Pine board to purchase from a local hardware store and ordered cabinet hinges and hardware in the mail.
Building the case
The box had to have a dual purpose – pretty to look at and a hard sturdy exterior to keep the items inside safe from breaking. When deciding on the materials to use, I chose to develop the kit out of wood.
The woodshop technician constructed the case based on my design and measurements. I assisted with sanding and cutting after completing full safety training of the machinery and tools.
Assembly
The case has several compartments for storing everything needed to create the ultimate chocolate martini. Included in the kit are glasses, chocolate mix, rimming sugar, and hand-painted martini glass-shaped chocolates.
After assembly, I applied paint to the interior and exterior and attached the fixtures and artwork to the front.
The result
The presentation of the kit is equally essential as the contents inside. The standout packing reflects the brand image and message of fun, sweet and bubbly celebrations. It’s the perfect cocktail starter kit for any party or a gift for a chocolate martini-loving friend.
